No Cavaties Here!

Now that Ryan is sporting 7 teeth, we thought it was time to get him a toothbrush. I don't think the wash clothe and warm water are doing the job anymore! As you can see from the video, he had no problems getting his little teeth brushed. I think having a few toothbrushes as toys has helped him get comfortable with having this weird shaped thing in his mouth. Cheers to having clean teeth!

Helping Mommy Get Organized

Our toy box downstairs tends to accumulate random stuff - infant toys, kitchen magnets, dog toys, etc. I took a stab at cleaning it and look who decided to join in on the "FUN". My little helper loved seeing all of his old baby toys and was excited to find the missing pieces to several of his favorite toys. It was a win-win for all!

Look Mom, I can balance on one leg!

Onesie

Ryan has a staple outfit that he wears most days - and, that would include a onesie of some sort. They are easy, cute & cheap -- can you beat that? Well, now that Ryan is getting older I have been slowly packing all his onesies away for the next kiddo. I caught on video this morning, Ryan doing something that makes me rethink saying goodbye to all those onesies!

Ryan has successfully TP'd our house! TP = Toilet Paper.

Window Sills

Can you believe that just 6 months ago, Ryan was learning to pull himself up from a sitting position? Our window sills were constantly used for support as he tried to get his legs underneath him and in a standing position. Now, 6 months later those same window sills are now being sat on by your truly! Is it a safe bet that he'll be standing on top of them in another 6 months?

That's why people were staring at us!

I had a small window on Saturday to get Ryan out of the house before we had to come back and have an afternoon nap. So, I quickly threw on a bathing suit and whipped my hair in a pony tail and we headed out to the Natatorium. After a fun hour of swimming, we get in the car to go back home and I check myself in the rear view mirror and to my dismay this was the person staring back at me -

Nice! I was wondering why so many people were looking at us! I just chalked it up to me being with a really cute kid but in actuality the cute kid's mom was looking like a street walker! Note to self: Remove all make-up before swimming. Not a good look. . .

Restaurant Week!

It was recently Restaurant Week (August 16th - 22nd) in the DFW area. What a great reason to get friends together and eat some amazing food! For $35 a person, our meal at III Forks included an appetizer, entree' and dessert. Yum!

My 1st Pony Ride

I say time and time again that I love Ryan's adventurous side. I was terribly shy as a child and I have such pride that Ryan has no fear and is always up for trying new things. Just this week, Ryan had his very first pony ride!

Don't let the pictures fool you -- Ryan was not "galloping" on a several acre farm. It just so happened that McDonald's in Frisco was holding a petting zoo behind the restaurant for their patrons. We will take what we can get!

Despite the location, you can see my Ryan had a great time. Oh, how I love this boy. . . .

Elton John & a Lollipop!

I forgot about Ryan's party favor from this past weekend because it's been hidden in my car. Last night, he loved playing with his new heart-shaped sunglasses - doesn't he resemble Elton John in this picture?!? He has a funny grin on his face because he was trying to smile with a goldfish in his mouth - this kid's talent is remarkable!

Here Ryan is getting his first lick of a lollipop. He was in heaven - are you surprised?

Oliver is patiently waiting for Ryan to lose interest and drop the sucker. It never happened - sorry Olie!

Toy Roller Coaster!

Check out Ryan's new toy! This Fisher Price Roller Coaster is priced at Toys 'R' Us for $130 and I ended up getting it slightly used on Craigslist for $50 - yeah, I love a good deal!

Now, I need to teach Ryan how to put his hands up in the air like he's on a real roller coaster. . .

For Grandma & Grandpa Weilbacher

To top off our fun-filled weekend, we had the other Weilbacher family (Tara, Brandon & Lauren) over for dinner on Sunday. Bobby, once again, made his mouth-watering BBQ ribs and we served them with corn on the cob, mash potatoes & a blueberry crisp for dessert (thanks Jessica for the recipe!).

Ryan and Lauren are on the road to becoming best friends. Lauren is getting used to Ryan's boisterous and loud ways - which can be 99% of the time! And, Ryan is learning that Lauren is just a baby and that she doesn't need him 2 inches from her face to see him. These are baby steps to a life long friendship. . . .

Such a sweet picture. . . .

Grandma & Grandpa Weilbacher: Your grand kids miss you! Looking forward to your visit on September 19th. . . . .

French Fries

A healthy alternative to McDonald's french fries is making potato sticks at home. No need for a fry daddy -- I slice up a potato into little sticks and saute them in a little olive oil. Ryan loves them for morning, lunch or dinner! My favorite is when he sticks a whole one in his mouth and slowly eats it while it dangles out of his mouth. We will be working on his table manners next!

Brooklyn's "Splish Splash" B-Day Party

Ryan helped his cousin Brooklyn celebrate her 4th birthday! She had a fun "splish splash" theme party at Nana and Pop's house. There were blow-up pools, water tables and a big water slide for all her friends to play on. Ryan especially liked watching the big kids go down the water slide because he would strategically stand at the bottom so he could get sprayed with water. Who knew getting splashed in the face with water could be so much fun for a 13-month old!

Here is a picture of the splash area - thankfully there was enough shade to keep us somewhat cool.

Nico and Ryan playing at the water table

Brooklyn and Addison showing Ryan some fun things to do with the water toys. He was being such a good student. . .

Tasha and Ryan

After splash time, all the little kids had their snack on the floor. Where's Ryan?

Oh, there he is! He is busy looking for some beer in the cooler.

Here is Avery proudly displaying her cupcake masterpiece. Brooklyn's friends enjoyed decorating their own cupcakes - Mommy opted to not include Ryan in this particular activity for obvious reasons!

Uncle Bobby and Brooklyn

Ryan and The Birthday Girl!

Towards the end of the party, I thought Ryan would crash due to having no morning nap. But oh how I was mistaken, he continued to wrestle with his cousin Nico up until the time we leave.

Here is one tired baby. . . sweet dreams!

Mmm! Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Still trying to figure out how Ryan got chocolate all over his face while he was at the grocery store with his Nanny. I am thinking the free cookies in the pastry area could be the culprit.

Ava Lilly Morford

Ava Lilly Morford was born on August 10th at 5:32p. She weighs 7lbs 3ozs and is 19 inches long. Congratulations Megan and Michael - she is precious!

I was hit with memories of my own baby's arrival as soon as I pulled into the parking lot at Baylor Frisco Hospital -- I remember it being over 100 degrees the entire time I was in the hospital and look its still just as hot! Also, Megan's hospital room is one door down from my old room. When I arrived this afternoon, Ava was getting a hearing test from the same nurse who did Ryan's hearing test. What good memories!

Lets Go Swimming!

This weekend, we were invited to The Cooper's house to celebrate my cousin Grant's birthday. Ryan loved playing with his cousins (Avery, Addison, Payson, Hayden, Madison, Brooklyn, Nico & Tasha) -- every time he turned around there was a cousin wanting to hold or play with him. I love it!

Here are a few pictures from that day - check out Ryan and Daddy going down the water slide - what fun!
