Ryan's 1st Day of School

Ryan's first day of school was this week!

Status report: A+ He did extremely well when I dropped him off in the morning. We arrived a tad early because Mommy anticipated that Ryan might need some extra attention before all of his classmates arrived. Not one tear shed!

He did cry a little when it was nap time which doesn't surprise me one bit. He has only napped in his crib and isn't used to sleeping on a nap mat much less in a strange place. BUT, he did eventually fall asleep which is FANTASTIC!

Overall, his first day of school was a hit! We look forward to Ryan learning new things, making new friends and overall just having fun. . . . you can't beat that!

Busy, Productive & Fun - Labor Day Weekend

We love 3-day weekends in our house! Gives us a lot of time to hangout as a family but also gives us an extra day to be productive and get some items checked off our "To-Do" list.

One of the things that we can scratch off the list is painting the nursery. Bobby spent his Friday afternoon and evening breathing in paint fumes - Thanks honey, the room looks great!

Love this shot of Bobby with paint on the top of his head!

Ryan spent most of the weekend doing what he does well. . . which is playing. Mommy set up the picnic table in the living room and introduced Ryan to play-doh for the first time. What fun!

Played at the neighborhood park. . .

We've all enjoyed this beautiful weather including Oliver.

We made homemade yogurt popsicles. . .

Yummy!

We got a haircut just before his first day of school

We played at Planet Pizza, a very "classy" indoor playgrounds. Please note, the sarcasm when I say "classy". They were playing music by Little Wayne, Jay-Z and Pitbull through the sound speakers the entire time - you know that kid friendly music. ;) We were 1 of 8 kids there on a Saturday night - that might have been a sign. Ryan had a blast though - loves putting tokens in the different arcade games. He gravitated to games that involved cars and basketballs - surprised?!?

Love this video I got of the two of us riding this rickety roller coaster. It went forward for like 1-2 minutes and then we thought the ride was over. Oh no! Then, it started going backwards. Poor Ryan is slumped against my shoulder and poor baby (in my belly) was kicking up a storm. Lets just say no one was a fan of a backwards roller coaster.

Nanny & Pops House

What better way to kick off Labor Day weekend then to spend it at Nanny & Pops house! It takes us about 20 minutes to drive over there from our house and the whole way Ryan will say at least 10 times -- "Nene & Dots". He gets so excited to go over there especially when his cousin Brooklyn joins too!

Got a great video of Ryan playing his first game of hide 'n' go seek with Brooklyn. We couldn't stop laughing because Ryan always chose to hide behind Pops on the couch - a little predictable but Brooklyn was a good sport and played along with it.

Brooklyn and Ryan playing with bubbles!

Swimming!

My child's "No Fear" attitude definitely comes into play when he is in a pool. I think this video is a good example of Ryan being. . . well, himself. Scares this mama to death but I know he loves to show his independence!

If anyone out there is wondering where Ryan gets this "no fear" attitude, I thought it would be appropriate to show a video of his father . . . . a kid at heart!

Makin' Waffles!

Ryan loves helping me make breakfast on the weekends. I just plop him on the counter and he has a ball helping me measure out the ingredients and pour them in the bowl. . . .

It was all fun and games until he figured out how to get the Pam lid off and proceeded to squirt it everywhere. . .

Front Row Seat!

Talk about having a front row seat! I am sure watching cartoons this close isn't the best for his eyes - thankfully, he can only hold the pose for a few seconds before getting tired.

Architect?

Ryan has been putting his fine motor skills in overdrive lately. He is all about building things - future architect? Maybe!

I walked into the kitchen last week and found this masterpiece. I couldn't wrap my head around how he pulled this one off. I guess he must have built the top portion on the ground and lifted it gently to place on the top of the bottom portion which was built in the grocery cart. Again, who knows how he did it but very impressive nonetheless!

We came home from church today and were making sandwiches for lunch. We watched Ryan from afar stacking his blocks. Of course, I had to grab my camera to catch him in action. . .

And yes, it eventually fell and I couldn't help but get his sad reaction on video. Poor baby!

Funny!

This morning, I gave Ryan breakfast on his Toy Story plate. You must know Ryan has never seen the movie nor does he know the character names. So when I started pointing to the different characters, I was entertained (in the beginning!) by what he was calling them. I pointed to the cowboy, Ryan says "Daddy". I pointed to the dog, Ryan says "Ollie". I pointed to the dinosaur, Ryan looks up at me not knowing the answer. I said, don't worry, that's a dinosaur - you don't know that name yet.

Then, I pointed to the pink, fat pig, Ryan says "Mommy". I couldn't help but laugh - Nice, son!

What's worse than 109 degree weather?

What's worse than 109 degree weather . . . . having to be in it! I have chosen to hibernate in the house on days like this and pray the weather will cool off soon. If I can help it I don't get out of the house after 12pm.

My husband, on the other hand, has a much different philosophy. He proceeds to tackle the hot weather head on by mowing the lawn at 4pm (isn't that the hottest time of the day?). What a stud!

My concern is that he is teaching Ryan bad habits - look who insists on being out there with him!

Yummy. . . sticker?

Since Ryan was a baby, he has always put random things in his mouth. When he was much younger, he would constantly put his toys in his mouth which all babies do. Bobby and I thought this was just a phase and once he became a toddler he would grow out of it. Um, well, not so much. Ryan still puts things in his mouth -- especially pieces of paper and stickers -- maybe it's a texture thing because we sure know it's not the taste!!

Here is a great video of Mommy catching him with a sticker in his mouth. . . . and yes, he is playing in the pool fully clothed. I was too lazy to go upstairs and get his bathing suit - don't judge! :-)

Scaling the Fridge

I think the pictures and video speak for themselves. I found Ryan scaling the fridge today in search of some ice cubes. After several failed attempts, he got smart and pulled up his chair to get better access. Really? This kid is nuts but I love every thing about him!
