My Single Parent Weekend

Bobby went hunting with his best friend, Jeff, in San Antonio this past weekend. Can you believe this was Bobby's only second time being away from Ryan for more than 2-days? It was a great opportunity for Ryan and I to have one-on-one time. And, it also helped that the weather cooperated!

On Friday night, Ryan and I stopped by my sister's house to join in the Homecoming festivities. My niece and nephew were getting ready for their high school Homecoming Game. Ryan loved looking at the pretty ribbon and fun trinkets that were hanging off their garters/mums.

While we were busy taking pictures of the older kids, the house all of the sudden got really quiet. Which isn't really a good thing when you have a 15-month old boy. We discovered Ryan sitting in their pantry playing with anything that was within his reach. He certainly knows how to make himself at home!

Brooklyn and Ryan

On Saturday morning, we went to our neighborhood park to run off any extra energy before his morning nap. Ryan is attracted to areas in the park that aren't suitable for his age -- see the climbing "thing" below -- he can't wait to get big enough to climb up it.

I am constantly showing Ryan that you go DOWN slides and not UP!

Mommy has taught Ryan how to get on these rocking animals all by himself.

After his morning nap, we packed a light lunch and headed to Brooklyn's very first soccer game. As you can see from the picture below, Brooklyn was not in the "team spirit" that day and opted to watch on the sidelines. I always told Kristen that she was destined to be a great cheerleader. . . just like her aunt!

Uncle Ken explaining to Ryan why he can't run out on the field.

Then on Sunday, Ryan and I went to Frisco Commons Park. This park has a huge playground, picnic tables, pond and more. We took Ryan for his first time when he had just started to walk. We ended up carrying Ryan all through the park because he just wasn't big enough for the playground. Oh times have changed! He had such a fun time running through the playground maze. . .

I love this picture of Ryan intently watching the older kids play. It's almost like he is calculating in his head the number of years he has until he can play on that swing.

The inner photographer in me couldn't resist trying to get a few good pictures of Ryan . . .

Daddy came home on Sunday with no wounds - it was a successful hunting trip!

  1. Oh my! I can't believe that the mums are so big now that they have to be worn around the girls' necks! Then again, they were growing by the year and for my Sr. year I had to wear my drill team jacket in order to keep the heavy thing on!
