Bobby and I took Ryan to the State Fair of Texas on Monday. This is our first time to go on a weekday and folks that is the way to do it - no lines to stand in and no crowds!
We aimed to get there right when the gates opened which was at 10am. But, we stopped for breakfast at Mimi's Cafe (waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, oh my!) and that slowed us down a bit. Our reasoning was to have a big hearty breakfast so we wouldn't completely pig out on corny dogs, makes sense right? Hmm, didn't really work out that way -- I downed a corny dog within the 1st 2 hours of being there. Yum!
We met Brandon, Tara and Lauren there too - kids loved going to the petting zoo together and nothing beats having a cousin to ride the rides with!
Petting Zoo was on the "big-hit" list with the kids. Eventhough Ryan was bummed that the Madagascar Characters weren't there - Alex "the lion", Marty "zebra", Gloria "hippo". I guess we need to take him to the Zoo soon!
They had a tiny farm where kids could pretend they were farmers . . .
They got their own apron and basket to gather eggs, veggies and feed. . .
Planted seeds in the soil and watered them
Milked a cow (Ryan kept thinking the "cow" was going to bite him)
Farmer Ryan riding his tractor
Bring on the Midway! Ryan is scouting out the Kiddie Midway to see which rides he wanted to ride first. . . .
Just the right size to ride by himself without an adult (Mom sighs with relief)
Ryan and Lauren on their first ride. It was a race car that would drive around this little track. The car would whip around fast each time they went around the track - the kids started laughing so hard the faster the car would whip around. I could just picture these two riding their first roller coaster together . . .
Here is a video. . .
More rides, more coupons to buy, more $$ to spend. . . Daddy at this point wanted to wrap it up and go home!
This picture was taken the last time we took Ryan to the Fair! He was only 4 months old - where has the time gone?
